Chess Katz, an online trading name of Think Ahead Chess Inc., is a premier chess teaching organization based in New York. Co-Founders Ben and Alanna have a collective 30+ years of chess teaching experience and have traveled to 25+ states across the United States to teach children chess. They’ve taught over 10,000 children and coach at the Local, City and National level. They are among the strongest brother-sister chess players in the country and bring their wealth of experience to their students.
They are currently teaching over 150 students virtually across 19 states and look forward to teaching your child!
Activities include week long summer chess camps, private on-line chess coaching, and coaching at the 4 major National Scholastic Tournaments, including the Grade National Championship, the Elementary National Championship, the Junior High School National Championship, and the High School National Championship.
US National Master Ben Katz, is the President and Co-Founder of ChessKatz.
Ben is in the 99th percentile of all chess players in the US. He has won numerous tournaments and represented the United States in several international events, most notably as part of a delegation called the “Collins Kids,” a group that competed all around the world, led by famed chess coach John Collins, former World Champion Bobby Fischer’s chess coach and mentor.
Ben has 15 years of teaching experience, primarily in New York City, and enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels.
Alanna is an accomplished chess player, among the top 100 ranked females in the US. She has 15 years of teaching experience and an extensive amount of work in the Greater NYC area. She has taught in many schools, most notably throughout New York City and introduced over 2500 students to chess.
Alanna also spent 10 summers traveling across the United States to run competitive chess camps.
Her and her brother Ben Katz are among the strongest chess playing siblings in the US.
Abby has 15 years of teaching experience, and enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels.
Private lessons are undisputedly the most efficient way to improve your child’s chess skills and track his or her progress.
We have years of experience in giving private on-line lessons, and can guarantee tailor-made approach to each child depending on their age and skill level. We work with seasoned tournament players and complete beginners and use a combination of Skype and either the Chess.com or Internet Chess Club platform.
Hourly Rate: $70/hr, $60/hr if sign up for more than 10 lessons.
